No, thats not how you teach. Might work for the cameras (well, even there it didn't). Thinking to teach by sheer energy will get you just that from the class. Focus, calm, discipline are musts sine qua none

Mr Rhodes is the head teacher now, in his first year he stopped me from being able to go to college, by refused to follow AQA access arangements I had, causing me to go through an awful year of him saying I was going to "fail in my studies if you didn't start trying". He also insulted me on exam results day on the phone and threatened to pursue legal action when I came out about abuse his staff had done. He refused to let me make a formal complaint and all those teachers, still teach there. So if he see's this, you took away a 3 years of my life, allowed verbal abuse to happen under your nose and insulted an ill teenager to the point they had to go into hospital. Are you proud of yourself?

It's difficult to pass any comment when you don't have access to all details. Targets, Pupil Profile, School aims, etc. etc. HOWEVER... This teacher should be applauded. Everything being thrown at her is being thrown back with the same energy, but even greater resolve.

I actually makes ure I don't start until I can hear a pin drop. And the exuberant way of complimenting them feels exuberant to the teacher himself / herself because we are adults ourselves and being quiet and listen attentively is a skill we've already mastered. These young children (whose neurological reward system is working a little bit too well - this is all part of the biological phase of puberty)are extremely sensitive to praise and interaction with pupils. That's why we should give them feedback on putting effort into being quiet. Once they have mastered this skill and they know what is expected from the teacher, you can decrease the number of compliments you give.

Fidgeting can be an essential behavior. All of us do it. Students on the Autism Spectrum do it to cope with their environment because of the overwhelming sensory input. You cannot outright ban fidgeting.

I wonder if he's still teaching today. Watching this video highlighted some real concerns over his lesson planning. His students weren't fully engaged, could that have been down to his lack of clarity in his instructions and the overall structure of the lesson itself? He was then a NQT so I expected a much more vibrant lesson than what he gave. However, these are just my own observations.
